In support of the nation’s steps to manage the outbreak of the covid19/Coronavirus, Basketball Wales and SWBA (South Wales Basketball Association) have released statements during the last 24 hours advising that all basketball activities by postponed for an initial period of two weeks.
All CVL, final fours and league games have been cancelled for the remainder of the season.
Tonyrefail Tigers will follow BW and SWBA recommendations. Therefore, we have suspended our provision including training and fixtures for the foreseeable future.
We understand how disappointing this decision is for our players and their families, but the health and safety of our members is paramount.
We will continue to monitor the situation and act upon the advice and guidance of the NGB, BW and SWBA. We will keep you informed of any updates.
Thank you for your continued support. Feb 16, 2020, 11:31 pm The Tigers U18 team lost their SWBA Cup Final match to Cardiff Archers U18 last Sunday at the Llandarcy Centre for Sport in Neath. It was a tough match for the Tigers who were overpowered by the big and experienced Archers team, who have not lost a game in Wales this season and who also play every week in the English Premier U18 Division. Still it was a big achievement for a small club like ours to reach the Final and we are proud of the players and coach Tony Berry for their efforts. See photo gallery for a team photo.
Aug 9, 2019, 4:23 pm Training has resumed from 05/08/2019. This season we have entered all age groups in the South Wales League but we do not currently have enough players at U10 and are short of players at U14.....so if you know of any kids who would like to give the game a go and who will not have reached their 10th birthday (or 14th birthday) by 01/09/2019, then please ask them to come along on a Monday between 5-6pm. Kit....the club currently provides playing kit for its players, but we do ask that every player purchases a Tigers warm up T shirt (which they can personalise with their own name) to wear over their club kit whilst they warm up for matches. These can be purchased by clicking on the online store, where you will also see other items bearing the club logo and which can also be personalised for each player.
