Nov 6, 2011, 7:51 pm

Success At Tigers 1st presentation evening

Tonyrefail Tigers Basketball Team held their first ever presentation evening at the Rhondda Bowl in Tonyrefail. The evening consisted of a fun game of bowling for the children, followed by a meal and then the awards ceremony.....FOR PHOTOS GO TO PHOTO GALLERY and click on each photo for details.

The squad has slowly grown in numbers over the last 3 years, with as many as 24 children now training on a Monday evening with ages ranging from 6 – 13 years of age. This season the team will be competing at under 8, 10, 12 & 14 age groups.

The awards were presented by Coach Dave Foale. All the children received an award medallion for the hard work and commitment they have shown over the last year. However for some there was the added honour of winning the main awards, which had been chosen by the coach.

Overall Most improved Male Player – Ifan Summerhill-Davies

Overall Most Improved Female Player – Nicole Jones

Female Player of The Year – Madison Colcombe

Under 10’s Player of the Year – Ben Evans

Under 11’s Player Of The Year – Rhys Evans

Under 12’s Player Of The Year – Craig Hughes

A special mention went to Assistant Coach Katie Foale, who this year has not only represented Wales at Under 18 level, but has also achieved her Level 1 Basketball Coaching Certificate.

Congratulations also go to Jordan Williams, Calvin Robins , Craig Hughes & Rhys Evans, who have all progressed to training with the Wales Elite Development Squad at U/14.

A big thank you to all the parents and children for making the evening so special, and we look forward to the next event at the end of the season.

Due to the increased numbers within the club, we are now seeking to purchase some additional kit. However, sadly our current sponsor are now unable to continue supporting the Club so the Tigers are therefore looking for any new potential Sponors, who may be keen in developing local talent for the future.
